New York Property & Casualty Exam Questions

To utilize coverage under the occurrence form of a Commercial General Liability (CGL), when must the injury occur and be reported?

  1. Prior to the inception date of the policy
  2. During the sixty-day basic mini tail
  3. Following a retroactive date
  4. During the policy period

New York Life & Health Exam Questions

What factors are used to determine the amount of each payment under the fixed period settlement option?

  1. Length of the fixed period, death benefit, and the interest
  2. Length of the fixed period and face amount
  3. Length of the fixed period, death benefit, interest, and age/ gender of the beneficiary
  4. Length of the fixed period, death benefit, and age/gender of the decedent

New York Insurance Regulations

In New York, a lapsed policy may be reinstated:

  1. within 1 year of policy lapse
  2. up to 90 days after the grace period expires
  3. never
  4. within 3 years of policy lapse

Answer: D

The Commercial General Liability (CGL) policy may be written on an "occurrence" basis requiring the event occur and be reported during the policy period or on a "claims-made" basis. The claims-made stimulus is the date when the claim is reported by the named insured.

Length of the fixed period, death benefit, and the interest are the only variables used to calculate the fixed period settlement option.

Answer: D 

If a policy lapses, New York insurance law allows the policy owner may apply to have the policy reinstated. The insured must provide evidence of insurability; and pay past-due premiums, any outstanding policy loans, and interest on the outstanding loan and past-due premiums. Reinstatement must be applied for within 3 years.
