Michigan Life & Health Exam Questions What happens in the event of accidental death if a policy has a double indemnity rider on his/her life insurance policy?
Michigan Insurance Regulations In Michigan, a lapsed policy may be reinstated:
Answer: C Actual cash value is a method of loss valuation which states that no matter how much insurance is purchased, the recovery amount is limited to the amount of the actual loss incurred. ACV is defined, more specifically, as replacement cost minus depreciation. Depreciation is the reduction in the value of property over time due to use, wear and tear and obsolescence. |
Answer: D Accidental Death Benefit, sometimes called double indemnity, this option can be added to a life insurance policy for a small additional premium. The additional death benefit is usually equal to the face amount of the policy. For the benefit to be payable, the insured must die as the result of an accident. The accidental death benefit will not be paid if death occurs while committing a felony or while intoxicated. |
Answer: D If a policy lapses, Michigan insurance law allows the policy owner may apply to have the policy reinstated. The insured must provide evidence of insurability; and pay past-due premiums, any outstanding policy loans, and interest on the outstanding loan and past-due premiums. Reinstatement must be applied for within 3 years. |
